To combat the city's housing shortage, the Seattle City Council approved zoning changes Tuesday that will allow for increased housing density near light rail stations. The council voted 7-2 in favor of the legislation, championed by Mayor Bruce Harrell, which aims to encourage the development of more apartments, townhouses, and other multi-family housing options within a half-mile radius of existing and planned light rail stops.
